Absolutely gorgeous coffee shop in a great spot. The coffee and food are excellent, they maintain good options for quality coffee that accommodate both the coffee snob and the person just looking for some caffeine, and the atmosphere is very relaxed. Our favorite coffee spot in Austin to date.

Delicious coffee and in the most charming old, historic home! Staff inside were really friendly and the bathroom and inside seating area was very clean and well-kept with some t-shirts, coffee, and mugs for sale. We sat outside in the shade at their patio/deck tables in front and enjoyed our lattes. I bought a really cute mug as well to commemorate my trip to Austin.

I went to Merit a few more times before I decided to finally leave this review. I think the quality of the coffee has gone way downhill for the past two years, and Merit is no longer keeping up with the likes of Desnudo/Flat Track/Proud Mary etc. Every coffee somehow tastes both watered down and far too sweet (despite not having sweetener.) There is no complexity or prevalent tasting notes, sometimes I wonder if they halved the espresso or if I am just drinking milk. The baristas and customers alike are confused why, every season, Merit bombards us with overly sweetened cereal flavored drinks no one asked for. The drinks are for children at this point. Next it will be an Ube Lucky Charms cinnamon fall drink I’m sure, and everyone will collectively sigh. I can’t come here anymore, it makes me sad because the historical building is lovely. It is just sweet cereal drinks and tech bros and LA pilates girls. No love. The display case has sad looking food and there’s always flies trapped inside, landing on the food. It’s freezing and the seating is wildly uncomfortable & rigid, and it seems the layout was constructed specifically for awkward eye contact between everyone co-working. Th

super nice spot! i went here before going to the alamo drafthouse and was very pleased w the entire experience :-) ordered an iced chai latte with a spinach and feta egg bite and both were #delicious… the inside was super cute but i actually ate outside which was ALSO really nice!!! definitely a great spot for a drink!!!

Best iced latte I’ve ever had!!!!! Ordered caramel and the bourbon cream cold foam. Please make the bourbon cream a regular it is SO GOOD :) also ordered the rosemary salt bagel as a snack and it surprised me that is was also incredibly delicious PS I ordered decaf because that’s the only coffee I ever drink and some places the decaf sucks but not here!!!! Also it can get busy and spots can get limited at this place but I understand why they stay so busy :)
